I never knew one truly happy, well, stable, fulfilled JW.
They were always looking for a quick fix to their problems like; quack doctors, quack medical treatment and diagnoses-iridology, herbal pills, magic pills...
is it me or is it reality that most jws are troubled??
that is they don't seem to be the "happiest people on earth"?

normally, i don't mind where i'm at in my life.
i'm forty, no kids, low-paying job, live in a trailer court, etc (and trust me there's more to the etc, then i've already mentioned), but today i had a hard time.. one of my best friends from high school was a big dope head (no offense to the dope heads out there).
he showed up nearly every day to our first period art class smelling of weed and was generally so whacked out of his mind that he got horrible grades.. he finally graduated - barely - and made it to college.

You men judge yourselves quite harshly and compare yourselves to others alot.
Personal growth that is born out of the adversity we as ex JWs have suffered through and overcome can really produce some great character in us. Survival is key. We can not allow the ghosts of the past haunt our new days.
The best part of us is who we are, how we love, not what we own or where we live.
i had the baby on 11/21/06.
we named him dylan rhys.
he's a cute little thing and such a good baby.
Welcome to life little one!
May blessings flow, may you always be surrounded by love, may you fearlessly reach your full potential to create and achieve greatness.
Congratulations new mama!
Baby's ROCK!
lets say there is chance you have an illness and you can take a few blood tests that will tell you if you do in fact have this illness, would you want to know ?
keep in mind that there is no treatment and nothing you can do to "make it better", what would you do?
would you like to know or would you rather not find out ?.
YES
I have dealt with this. It is always better to know because I believe there is always something that one can do to improve the quality of life no matter the diagnoses.
My siblings refused to be tested for a genetic disease that they had a high probability of having, putting their live's in danger. I have one disease that can not be treated but I have a higher quality of life via my diet and lifestyle, and two other diseases that can be treated with medication and regular blood removals every 10 weeks since 1994, for the rest of my life.
I pray you are not facing something personaly. Please reach out to someone of you are. Don't face it alone.
i'm trying to remember the process for giving a talk.
i remember getting a slip with a topic on it, but what else was on that slip?
did it tell you what scriptures you should cite, or what book the talk was based on?
I have succesfully repressed that memory thank you..
Now why do I have a stomach ache thinking about it...
Many times I was an elder's wife's project. I confess I did not do many after suffering through the first couple in the back room. I think I made it to the stage...I really have repressed it. It was so painful to me.
I remember having notes on index cards ..having them fall off my lap..being critisized critiqued...
so my hubby wanted to go to church yesterday.
it was a non-denominational one in the town next to ours.
i went along because he feels he needs a church to attend to keep him on the right track.
Xavier may be related to Raul, maybe his father? Not sure. Raul Ries does some good preaching but I never was involved with his church. I attended a crusade type service at the sports field near his church in Chino.
Hey I'm not kidding I have called CC pastors before and discussed these issues. I don't put them up on a pedestal and they often don't realize what effect their policies are having on certain people, especially former JWs.
If their hearts are in the right place they will change church policy. Sometimes they will be taping services and the babies and children's cries will pick up rather loudly, but I couldn't care less about their recordings. Children ALWAYS should come first.
We have babies and children in our services, and childrens ministry available. Children are very important to this church. I can understand if they are really being disruptive but most CC's have mothers rooms for that. We usually have children's noise during the services if it was really bad the pastor would probably say something funny or go up to the child and talk to him. He has done that.
Have you been to that church in Pasadena? You are right, Calvary Chapels have always been great teaching churches. I have never run into doctrinal inconsistencies. I made many new friends there after the WT. Had a wonderful time attending women's retreats in the mountains.
One bad thing about churches are church politics. Can't stand it. The desire for recognition. Growth sometimes brings a loss of focus. But the good should by far outweight the bad. Thus my focus now on charity outreach based ministries.

You are a good mother lioness Lill and doing your kids right by protecting them. My oldest child was hurt the worse, even though I never forced her into the mechanics of life as a JW, she attended a private JW run school for many years.
When I explained that I was wrong, and we were leaving the JW religion completly she said she thought I had lost my mind. It took her a few years but she is still suffering some of the damage the WT did to our family. We had several years to decompress before finding another church.
When it felt right I prayed and at that time was lead to a Calvary Chapel. But they have grown so much that there are things I see that I am not happy with today. Your experience just one of them, however, the usher may have taken a few liberties with his self ordained power. I've seen that before too. I have known of Calvary chapels shut down because something was not right. One that I attended was on Maui when I lived there. We met outside, on the beach where there was grass and tree's, whales in the chanell, sea turtles, and the children either sat on the grass and enjoyed the service or played.
My husband and I are teachers with a 75 year old ministry for children, everything beautiful about God and Jesus that we missed out on as JW kids. It teaches children the simple gospel message in a wonderful way that makes them want to learn and come to the afterschool "Good News Clubs" clubs voluntarily. I think of it as an innoculation against these children falling for a cult later in life.
Right now we are working with a new little church just getting started. We don't have a building yet. (The true church isn't about the building anyway) It is only a few blocks away from my home which is convenient.. It is completly independant from any denomination, although the pastor, my husband, the worship/music leader all were educated at Calvary Chapel Bible Colleges and other schools.
At this point in my life, since I was where you are now 14 years ago, I ask myself today, what can I do for this church? My children are grown so I don't have to be concerned with their spiritual influences. I don't rely a lot on the serman for learning as I usually am researching the Bible fairly regularly, but I often get something out of it if even a little convicted of something in my life that I need to change.
Find out which church close to you that has the most charitable outreaches, and you will probably find the right church for your family. A church without charity.... talk is cheap!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Lill!

Lilly that is crazy. I never heard of such a thing. I have years of experience with Calvary Chapels and that would have never happened at any of the ones I have worked with. I would LOVE to talk to the pastor there about this. Since they are not "organized" you can find varying differences within CC's, but never something like this.
Might I suggest you start with a local charity outreach as volunteers? There are Christian run charities in every town that welcome volunteers. They may have small Christian services and prayer before food preparation at a food bank, Christian based homeless ministries, senior ministries, Salvation Army, etc.
When children get involved with faith based volunteer work it really can change them and give them a vision of reality that they otherwise would never see.
Right now I am volunteering in several charities and facilitating a whole new one for seniors! It is really coming together and I am so excited about it. I have a gift of facilitating charities, training others to carry on, delegating responsibilities, and then move on to the next need. This is as close as it gets to religion for me although I do have a church home that I love and supports my ministry outreaches.
I pray your family finds that church home your husband is looking for. It becomes a true extended family, not a building full of fair weather friends and fakes.
Love~Kate
funny thing about jws----many celebrate thanksgiving but say they're only eating turkey with all the fixings by coincidence.
god made the food to be consumed everyday.
then you get witnesses who celebrate christmas the day before or after with all sorts of presents but they won't give it on the 25th because that day is pagan.
Yeeeeeaaaay Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!!!!!!
Love them both!
Took afew years to make peace with Christmas post WT. There is nothing pagan about it in my life and we avoid as much comercialism as possible. Actually my Christmas focus this year is on providing warm winter clothes for an 80 bed convelescent hospital where the residents are truly in need of them. I am starting a ministry called "Adopt a Senior".
We get a live tree and then plant it after Christmas.
jehovah the god of the hebrew scriptures treatment of his creation is questionable.. jesus (his son) of the greek scriptures only on one occasion lost his temper - in the temple w/the money changers.
otherwise he was kind and patient and compassionate for people.. how can this be?
why such a difference in personality if they are the same "person"?
Dearest Gumblemeister~
I am moved, so moved.
Tomorrow maybe I'll go to the Kingdom Hall and talk to the elders. If I don't make eye contact with anyone and sit in the back maybe no one will talk to me thus causing them to stumble.
I'll sew a large A on my bosom ...
I'll hide my cross....
I'll I'll...oh crap I'd have to shave my legs..
SORRY! no can do...but if you shave your legs and put a Walmart skirt on I'll go with you.
